  Storm King Art Center is located at Old Pleasant Hill Road, Mountainville NY 10953, Orange County in the Hudson Valley. "Widely celebrated as one of the world’s leading sculpture parks, Storm King Art Center has welcomed visitors from across the globe for fifty years. It is located only one hour north of New York City, in the lower Hudson Valley, where its pristine 500-acre landscape of fields, hills, and woodlands provides the setting for a collection of more than 100 carefully sited sculptures created by some of the most acclaimed artists of our time."

Click to enlarge photo of Menashe Kadishman Menashe Kadishman was born in Tel-Aviv in 1932 and is one of the most important Israeli artists of today. He studied sculpting with Moshe Sternschuss (1947 - 1950) and Rudi Lehmann (1954) and then went to London where he enrolled at the St. Martin’s School of Art and Design. Kadishman returned to Israel in 1972 where he was awarded the Dizengoff Prize for sculpture in 1990 and the Israel Prize for sculpture in 1995.

Click to enlarge photo of Adonai by Alexander Liberman. The inspiration for Adonai came from Liberman’s visit to Chartes, one of the greatest medieval cathedrals in France. Adonai’s two vertical cylinders suggest an entrance portal and its long horizontal cylinder suggests a nave. The sculpture’s name, Adonai, is the Hebrew word for God.

"He studied sculpting with Moshe Sternschuss (1947 — 1950) and Rudi Lehmann (1954) and then went to London where he enrolled at the St. Martin’s School of Art and Design. There he became a student of Anthony Caro and Reg Butler." Kadishman finished his studies in 1960 and returned to Israel in 1972 where he was awarded the Dizengoff Prize for sculpture in 1990 and the Israel Prize for sculpture in 1995.

The Storm King State Park is located near Storm King Art Center which is an outdoor museum that celebrates the relationship between sculpture and nature. Storm King Art Center comprises 500 pristine acres of carefully maintained fields, hills, and woodlands, on which more than 100 works by major international artists are thoughtfully sited.
